How to be a better charity Board member

Interested in some good quality education as a Board member but not sure where to turn?

Recently, I attending the Institute for Corporate Directors Not-For-Profit Governance Essentials program. There is a scholarship program for charity employees to attend sponsored by TELUS and Royal Bank.

Is f-r-e-e- more in line with your Charity’s budget? Altruvest has a free Board Fundamentals program as does The Maytree Foundation. Maytree also has a lot of great support if you are interested in inclusion and diversity.

Two great U.S. sources are BoardSource and they have a great eNewsletter. Compass Point in San Francisco has a great set of resources under the Blue Avocado banner with both great content and a sense of humour.

These great information sources can help you as a Board member or staff person ensure you are doing what you need to do and also can help when you run into a problem you’re not sure how to address.
